Sarah-Jane Blake

Sarah-Jane Blake studied Drama (BA Hons) at Bristol University followed by studies at The Motley Theatre Design course.

Sarah-Jane is an artist and performance designer. Art exhibitions include work in the Medcalf gallery and Rebecca Hossack gallery, London. Performance work has included design for the following fringe theatre, dance and live art events in the UK:

'Gridshell Symphonies' - Blank productions. Private Drama Events, Event design. 'Before you can run'- Lost dog Dance co. 'The Masque of the Red Death' - Punch Drunk. 'The Death of cool' - Imperial productions. 'Measure for Measure' - Flagship productions.

Educational work has included direction and design for a site specific production of 'Hamlet' with the Lincoln school in Kathmandu, Nepal 2009. In 2008 Sarah-Jane spent two months in Naples, Italy as part of the design team for a live art event and community project, 'Napoli Scorticarta', with the Lotos Collective.

Recent work has included a commission from Q theatre, Auckland, New Zealand, which culminated in a site specific performance based on 'Pandora's box' which she wrote, directed and produced. Other recent work involved creating Live art for 'Side Room' magazine events and a commission to create a stop motion animation, exploring bed time storytelling, for a Sticky Pictures (Wellington based film makers) documentary.

Sarah-Jane's own work investigates dark and macabre themes with a sometimes surreal humor. She seduces the viewer into an unexpected world with underlying currents of a bizarre and menacing nature.
